One of the main attractions at Rockford’s Harvest Fest is the Make ‘N’ Take Scarecrow Tent. The Harvest Fest celebrates fall. The Make ‘N’ Take Scarecrow event is just what it sounds like. With a $10 donation to local charities, you get clothes, a wooden cross, hay and twine to make your scarecrow.
This Harvest Fest, 1,083 scarecrows were made! That beats last year when only 836 scarecrows were created.
In 2017, my family made a scarecrow named Bob. After Bob spent the winter in our shed being a warm home for mice, we knew Bob had to go. My Dad burned him on his stake in our front yard. The only problem is that cars drive by and a flaming scarecrow can look like a real human from far away!
Because of Bob’s ending, we named our new scarecrow Nero. We also got him a guitar! Making a scarecrow is a lot of fun. I hope they make 2,000 next year!
