Dylan Experiences the Boston Tea Party

This past year in 4th grade, I studied the Revolutionary War and everything leading up to it. One of the cool things I got to do was going to the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum. This is a place where you relive December 16, 1773. We met Samuel Adams, that is, an actor playing him, and took place in the town meeting to debate tea and taxation without representation. We dressed as Indians and went aboard the Beaver to throw tea into the very same body of water where the Boston Tea Party took place over 240 years ago. It was really fun to throw tea into the harbor. I felt like I was actually at the real Boston Tea Party.

Back in the museum we saw the only known surviving tea chest from the Boston Tea Party. There was a lot more in the museum such as a short film about the Revolutionary War. We also saw hologram women discussing the issues at the time.

In the tea room, you could sample the very same five teas that were thrown overboard. I just had water.

I really enjoyed reliving the Boston Tea Party and learning about how it changed history. If you are ever in Boston, you should definitely check out this museum. I would also recommend reading Johnny Tremain since his character experienced the Boston Tea Party.
