On Wednesday, April 10 2019, my family and I went to Kid Life Club’s Annual Derby Car Race for the first time. Kid Life Club is the youth group I attend at Rockford Reformed Church.
Weeks before the race, all the kids designed their cars and drew the shapes. Later, some men from the church community cut the shape of the cars the kids had drawn on their blocks. Next, everyone painted the cars. I painted mine “limousine black” with a lightning bolt on the top. Lastly we glued on the numbers. My car was number 100.
On the night of the race, all the cars were set up to view. I liked the jagged cars. When it was my group’s turn to race I won two out of three times. That meant I won first place! The trophy was huge! Everyone was cheering when I won.
This event was very fun and exciting. The car creating process was really fascinating even though I got paint in my nose. I encourage you to come to Rockford Reformed Church anytime.
